Racing Testimonial: AMSOIL snowmobile oil saves engine

During the Pro Open final at the opening rounds of AMSOIL Championship Snocross, professional rider Lincoln Lemieux's Ski-Doo lost all its engine coolant after a hose clamp broke. Despite intense heat that melted the exhaust power valve covers, O-rings and gaskets, AMSOIL DOMINATOR Synthetic 2-Stroke Racing Oil protected Lemieux's engine so well, the team is able to reuse the engine after replacing the melted parts. 
 
Two-stroke snowmobiles are meant to be ridden hard. Repeatedly pushing a machine to wide-open throttle during all-day, aggressive riding, however, takes its toll on the engine. INTERCEPTOR Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil is specifically designed for maximum performance in all makes of two-stroke snowmobiles, including Ski-Doo*, Polaris* and Arctic Cat*, helping enthusiasts spend more time riding and less performing maintenance. It is compatible with nearly all other two-stroke oils, while its low-smoke, low-odor properties help ensure riders won't be "smoked out." INTERCEPTOR is engineered to be pushed as hard as the sleds it protects.

Anti-Scuff/Anti-Wear
Snowmobile engines have evolved to run on leaner gas-to-oil mixtures, increasing harmful friction and heat. INTERCEPTOR's synthetic formulation incorporates high-molecular-weight components with high flash points that resist burn-off. As a result, a greater amount of oil survives the combustion process to provide lubrication and protection. Its excellent lubricity and film strength inhibit metal-to-metal contact. In extreme dynamometer testing, INTERCEPTOR's anti-scuff/anti-wear formula completely prevented piston skirt scuffing.

Excellent Deposit Control
INTERCEPTOR naturally resists harmful deposits due to its thermally stable synthetic formulation. It is additionally fortified with high-temperature detergency and dispersancy additives that provide excellent engine cleanliness. In extreme dynamometer testing, INTERCEPTOR completely prevented piston ring and exhaust power valve sticking for maximum performance. It also limited piston, combustion chamber and spark plug deposits for reliable operation.

INTERCEPTOR Field Trial Results
During the winter of 2015/16, INTERCEPTOR was tested in the three top makes of snowmobiles. Each sled was added to the rental fleet of a different outfitter in the Eagle River, Wis., area and placed into service. Following the season, the sleds were disassembled and examined for wear. Results reveal INTERCEPTOR prevented piston ring sticking and piston scuffing, (see below) while the exhaust power valves contained no abnormal deposit buildup and did not stick.

APPLICATIONS
AMSOIL INTERCEPTOR Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil is engineered for use in direct-fuel-injected (DFI), electronic-fuel-injected (EFI) and carbureted two-stroke snowmobiles, including those made by Polaris*, BRP*/Ski-Doo* (Rotax* E-TEC* engines), Arctic Cat* (C-TEC 2) and Yamaha*.

Use where API TC oils are specified. Use as injection oil or 50:1 premix (2.6 oz. per U.S. gallon of gas). INTERCEPTOR is compatible with most conventional and synthetic two-stroke oils; however, for best performance, mixing oils should be minimized.

After a full season of real-world riding, INTERCEPTOR completely prevented ring sticking, piston scuffing and exhaust-power-valve sticking in Arctic Cat*, Ski-Doo* and Polaris* snowmobiles.

Excellent protection against wear and deposits
At the end of the riding season, AMSOIL disassembled the sleds and examined parts for deposits, wear and other distress. In all three makes, INTERCEPTOR completely prevented piston ring sticking, piston scuffing and exhaust power valve sticking.

These results are even more impressive considering the increased demands modern snowmobile engines place on oil. Government mandates have led snowmobile builders to design engines that burn less oil to reduce exhaust emissions. Burning more air and less oil, however, increases harmful heat while inviting wear and deposits if the oil isn’t capable of protecting in these extreme conditions. Simply put, today’s sophisticated sleds demand more from two-stroke oils.

Undercut OEMs' claims
Some original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) often attempt to capitalize on the need to use higher-quality oils in today’s sleds by placing doubt in the minds of enthusiasts about warranty coverage should the OEM-branded oil not be used. Not coincidentally, the OEM-branded oil typically comes at a premium price.
In addition, their marketing is often built on the notion that only their brand of oil is designed to withstand the challenges of their brand of sled.
